Hi friends,
Today, I am busy writing out our thank you cards and sending Fawn & the Flame stickers to the many folks who donated to our Nevada mini-tour trip.
Thank you to everyone who helped out financially, and also to those of you who support us through encouragement. We appreciate you so much!
Our trip was amazing in so many ways. These three guys (Tim Zhorne on drums, Rob Chapin on bass, and Joe Scott on guitar) are great travel companions. We had so much fun, and it was full of unexpected adventure as well.
We got to Las Vegas and had to drive to my hometown, which was about a five hour trip. And, when we walked into the bar, we caused a bit of a scene - they recognized us as "outsiders" right away. If you grew up in a small town, you know what I am talking about! Literally, we walked into the bar as a group, and about 3-4 people turned around on their barstools and said, "You aren't from around here!"
It wasn't long until we were embraced by the locals, and it didn't hurt to tell them I was raised there. We enjoyed the town's festivities, since it was an Armed Forces celebration. Fireworks, parades and a weekend full of fun. I got to share my love of Indian tacos with the band, something I grew up on and adore.
We played with a band called Moral Demise, which is a little punk band featuring two people I grew up with, and I am a fan now, with little songs like "D-U-F**king-I" and "What the HELL Happened to Joe's?"...we enjoyed their original songs. :)
I even ran into an old classmate who insisted I sign his stomach.
We played outdoors for the show. and it actually ended up that our show was cancelled due to a crazy storm that came out of actual NOWHERE! But, we were fortunate to have done a bit of a live rehearsal for some folks for about an hour, and it was so much fun!
On the way back to Las Vegas, we stopped by a gold mine and visited my childhood best friend, Tisha.
Then, we headed back to the plane and came home. Here's us on the shuttle, and then, Tim put $1 into the slot machine and he won $80! So, he bought us drinks at the airport!
This trip was very healing for me in lots of ways, a way to bring my past in and mix it with my present. I've been doing some "shadow work" personally, and this was part of that process, to integrate your old self with your new self. Such a meaningful trip for me, and these guys were the perfect friends to bring along. They showed compassion to the many characters we ran across (too many to count!). And the trip overall made me very grateful that the grace of God flows so mercifully.
"There but for the grace of God I go..."
There could have been many things my life may have become, and my heart is full of gratitude for where I am today, while not perfect in any way, it is a life that brings me joy in so many ways.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
